Samsung Releases Smartphone with Better Support for Crypto Currencies
Reporting from CryptoSlate, Samsung released the latest flagship smartphone version that supports 34 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, and a variety of DApps, as first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The world's largest smartphone manufacturer by market share offers the Galaxy Note 10 variant "KlaytnPhone" which has cryptocurrency capabilities, specifically for the South Korean market on Thursday (05/09/2019). This smartphone includes a feature to store private keys of cryptocurrencies safely through cellular services that are activated by the blockchain. In addition, it comes with a pre-installed cryptocurrency wallet, and users can transfer funds and review transaction history.
The latest flagship smartphone that will not be different in terms of hardware and packaging of the two types of Galaxy Note 10, but will come with a complete line of transaction services and blockchain applications from Klaytn. The report also mentions that Klaytn Phone buyers will get a number of KLEN tokens, Klaytn's original cryptocurrency, to be used and become familiar with phone features.
Earlier this year, Samsung will release its first crypto-friendly smartphone, Galaxy S10, which only supports Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens. Now, the latest flagship phone supports 34 cryptocurrency and 17 decentralized applications (DApps).
Among the tokens that are added to KlaytnPhone are Bitcoin (BTC), Binance Coin (BNB), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Augur (REP), Engineering Coin (ENJ), and many more. Some of the most prominent DApps available on the Galaxy Note 10 variant are the BULVRD Drive, Coinduck, XWallet, and Cosmee.
Samsung partnered with Ground X Corp, a blockchain affiliate of Cocoa Corp, to create the Klaytn platform and subsequently the KlaytnPhone. This partnership is a clear sign of the main steps taken by the giant smartphone maker to increase the adoption of cryptocurrencies.
The initiative to create devices - with pre-installed applications and security features - will simplify the learning curve that allows more people to become familiar with blockchain technology. Samsung is not the only one who leads. HTC Corp and Sirin Labs launched phones that support the blockchain last year. Whole Network, a startup supported by Huobi, will officially unveil its Acute Angle smartphone next week.
Apple is another telephone manufacturer to watch out for, with news from the company that recently revealed awareness and optimism about the digital currency industry.
